Evan brushed his teeth, tucked Teddy under his arm and strode through the kitchen to say goodnight to Mum.

Unfortunately, crouched on the edge of the lolly cupboard was a delicious red Juicy Jelly Monster. It eyed Evan up and down. It eyed Evan round and round. And pounced off the shelf – ‘RAAAAAGH!’

Evan’s monster-munching mouth flung open and gobbled the monster up – aga-aga-munch-munch-munch …

Mum heard the noise and rushed to the kitchen.

‘Jumping Juicy Jelly Monsters!’ she yelled.

‘I didn’t …’ said Evan. ‘I mean, I wasn’t …’

‘Off to the bathroom and brush your teeth, young man,’ said Mum.

Evan brushed his teeth, straightened his pyjamas, tucked Teddy under his arm and marched back through the kitchen to say goodnight to Mum.

However, lurking on the edge of the lolly cupboard were three delicious green Juicy Jelly Monsters. They eyed Evan up and down. They eyed Evan side to side. And sprung off the shelf – ‘RAAAAAGH!’

Evan’s monster-chomping choppers flew into action and gobbled the monsters up – aga-aga-chomp-chomp-chomp-chomp …

Mum heard the noise and dashed to the kitchen.

‘Jumping Juicy Jelly Monsters!’ she yelled.

‘I didn’t …’ said Evan. ‘I mean, I wasn’t …’

‘EVAN!’ said Mum, pointing to the bathroom.

Evan brushed his teeth, washed his face and hands, straightened his pyjamas, tucked Teddy under his arm and then marched straight to bed.

But, waiting for Evan by his bed was –

Mum.

She tucked Evan in, gave him a big kiss goodnight, and walked quietly out to the kitchen.

But, crouched on the edge of the lolly cupboard were five delicious orange Juicy Jelly Monsters. They eyed Mum up and down. They eyed Mum round and round. They eyed Mum side to side. And pounced off the shelf – ‘RAAAAAGH!’

Mum’s jelly-munching jaw jumped into action – aga-aga-munch-munch-munch …

Evan heard the noise and raced to the kitchen.

‘Jumping Juicy Jelly Monsters!’ he yelled.

‘I didn’t …’ said Mum. ‘I mean, I wasn’t …’

Suddenly, a whole packet of green, orange, purple, yellow and blue Juicy Jelly Monsters sprung off the shelf – ‘RAAAGGHH!’

Evan and Mum stumbled backwards – opened their monster-munching mouths really, really wide – and munched the monsters all through the kitchen – aga-aga-aga-munch-munch-munch-munch-munch …
