When going on a long business flight from Australia to London, you need to think carefully about where you want to stop over. Each stopover offers a number of different benefits and opportunities. You need to think about what you want while you wait for your next flight, whether it is relaxing, shopping or visiting some tourist spots.

If you plan on booking yourself, read on to discover some of the best places to stopover on the way to London. For some more detailed advice on stopover options, talk to a travel agent like Corporate Traveller they have the inside scoop on which airports have the best facilities for business travel stopovers.

Singapore

Renowned for being one of the best airports in the world, Changi International Airport is very spacious and comfortable. You will never struggle to find a seat. There is a lot to see and do in Singapore, even when limited by time on your stopover. Just outside the airport is Changi Museum, a memorial to the Australian soldiers that fought in World War Two. If you are stopped over for a full day or more, take the time to explore some of the many microcosms that exist all through the city. There is a lot to see and do in Chinatown, Arab Street, Little India, Holland Village and Orchard Road. Check out the newly built, iconic Marina Bay Sands Resort from the Singapore Flyer and visit the famous Merlion just around the corner. Singapore is famous for its food, so while you are there, head to the street food markets on Orchard Road. If you are more of a nature lover the Botanical Gardens have the best orchid garden in the world.

Bangkok

Bangkok’s real name may be difficult to pronounce and near impossible to remember – you might even spend more time trying to say the name of the airport than waiting in it. Nevertheless, Suvarnabhumi Airport offers a cultural experience like no other. Recommended for its friendly and fun nature, Suvarnabhumi is one of the cheapest and most exciting airports in South East Asia. There is lots of cheap shopping and food in the airport, but it is quite sprawling so time management is important for getting to flights. The city itself has more attractions than can be counted and is not the best stopover if you are looking to relax. For shoppers, the Chatuchak Market is a haven for wholesale shopping and offers shipping containers to those that can’t hold back. If you are staying overnight and looking for some excitement you can take a look at the notorious Bangkok nightlife. You can experience an authentic bit of Thailand by visiting a Muay Thai fight at the Lumpinee Boxing Stadium any Tuesday, Friday or Saturday.

Tokyo

Looking for an efficiency, smooth operation? Narita Airport is a forty-minute train ride from the heart of Tokyo and the definition of efficient, perfect when travelling for business. The Japanese are well known for their organisation, and they really prove their mettle at Narita. Everything runs smooth and without issue. The airport is clean and all the staff are stereotypically polite, and more often than not, proficient in English. Free WiFi is offered throughout the airport as you visit its many shops and restaurants. Visiting the city, you can buy just about anything; clothes and media in Shibuya, electronics, appliances and food in Shinjuku and anything game, anime and pop culture related in Akihabara. Temples are scattered throughout the city, you can easily see each one by using the Tokyo rail system.

Dubai

Worried about the long second half of the journey to London? You can conveniently split the journey in two by stopping off at Dubai International Airport and leaving the flight to London as the shorter. Though the airport is often very busy and does not have great seating, there are many shopping opportunities. A trip to the city will reveal a plethora of awe inspiring manmade structures. From islands in the shape of palm trees to a building that really does scrape the sky at over 820 metres tall. Dubai offers uncountable ways to relax in luxury while you wait for your next flight.

So many cities are available to choose from for stopovers, picking the one that’s best for you is the hard part. Where is your favourite Australia to London stopover?
