Federation Square Set for Big Night on New Year’s Eve

Federation Square in Melbourne is set for a big New Year’s Eve with a myriad of FREE events featuring children’s entertainment and musical performances by international stars.

The party starts at 8.00pm, with the smooth sounds of The Moovin’ and Groovin’ Orchestra. Put on your
dancing shoes and head down to the Square for a funky mix of swing, jazz and popular tunes ideal for the
whole family.

After the family fireworks at 9.15pm, Nicky Bomba and the Melbourne Ska Orchestra will rock the stage
with their unique brand of Jamaican ska, funk and crazy beats.

As the clock winds down, they will be joined by a range of special guests, featuring the best of Melbourne’s
multicultural music scene from jazz and funk to hip hop, an Ethiopian choir and African drumming!

Family fireworks will begin over the Yarra River at 9.15pm, with another spectacular fireworks display at
12.00 midnight.

Circus Trick Tease – an incredible, high-energy routine of circus performance, fire twirling and acrobatics
at 9.00pm, 10.30pm and just before midnight will create spectacular vision in the square and on the two
large screens.

Jane Sydenham Clarke, Program Manager Fed Square says the Alcohol and Glass Free policy at Federation
Square ensures a safe family friendly atmosphere with hi quality entertainment for all ages.

Getting to Federation Square
Public transport is the best way to get to Fed Square and it couldn’t be more convenient with Flinders Street Station and most major tram routes directly opposite the Square. Night Rider Buses will also be in operation
