Give The Gift Of An Experience (Not Things) This Holiday Season

This holiday season, many of us get can stuck when we think about what to get people for gifts. There are many people to buy for, and you can end up getting quite generic gifts. But this year, how about getting your loved ones the gift of an experience instead? You could just get them ‘stuff’ that will fill and clutter their home. So why not something truly exciting and memorable?

You might find it interesting to know that when people get experiences, it actually makes them happier. But why do you think that is? I guess the excitement or joy from a material gift is quite short lived. Just look how it is with our children. They are excited when they first open a gift, but how long is it before the stop playing with it completely? A matter of days in most instances. But with an experience, you get the whole build up to it. You also get the memory of it to look back on. How many of us remember a special holiday or day out that we had? I bet we remember them more than the gifts that we got given last year, for example. So what would make good experience gifts for your friends and family? Here are some ideas.

Food or Drink Related

Something to do with food or drink is pretty much a winner with everyone, right? So how about booking a special meal for your loved one? It could be Michelin starred restaurant or just a new place that you know they will love. You could arrange a wine tasting day for them, or perhaps an afternoon tea treat. This website has some ideas for afternoon tea locations: http://thehighteaparty.com.au/. If you need some inspiration anyway. The best thing about this kind of gift is that it isn’t something they can really do alone. So book it for them and their other half, or for you to go to as well.

Sports Event, Concert or Gig

There is nothing better than having something on the calendar to look forward to. If you have a sports lover or music fan in the family, then tickets are a great idea. Quite often a concert or a gig is such a treat, that they rarely buy tickets to go for themselves. So it would make a really thoughtful gift. Just make sure it is a band or team that they love, to make it extra special. You could look somewhere like https://www.theticketmerchant.com.au/. To see what kind of prices things will be.

A Trip

If you have someone that loves to travel or visit new places, then arrange a trip for them. It could be anything from a day trip to a full vacation. It would just depend on your budget (or a few of you could club together for the latter). Just make sure that it is somewhere that they have never been or place that they have always wanted to visit. That will stand out in their memory for sure; what a treat!
