Harlequin Australia, the leading publisher of romance and women’s fiction has announced the launch of its very own digital-first imprint, Harlequin Escape. Harlequin Escape was created to unearth new Australian writing talent and aspiring authors can submit their manuscript online to the publisher.
By creating a website where authors can openly and easily submit their work online, Harlequin Australia are opening up publishing opportunities to many more potential new authors.
The traditional submission model of Harlequin Enterprises of sending manuscripts in to an editorial office in North America (Harlequin) or the United Kingdom (Mills & Boon), can be daunting and difficult to navigate. So Harlequin Australia have created a portal where Australian authors can openly and easily submit their work online.
Aspiring authors can submit their manuscript at the website: www.escapepublishing.com.au/.
Managing Director of Asia Pacific Harlequin Enterprises, Michelle Laforest says, “The launch of Harlequin Escape is an exciting new initiative we believe will leverage our expertise in romance to take Australian authors to a global audience. The call for open manuscript submissions will enable Harlequin Australia to expand its local author programme and importantly unearth new Australian writing talent.”
“Harlequin Escape is encouraging manuscripts from all romance genres, including erotic fiction, gay romance and non-fiction romance. Successful manuscripts will be published as eBooks and housed on a newly created website, harlequinescape.com, which will be supported with digital marketing initiatives, including social media activity. The eBooks will also be distributed globally to maximise the distribution footprint,” said Laforest.
