Do you live in a small space and need to find creative ways to store your belongings? Are you constantly misplacing things, because you don’t know where to put them? Maybe you have lots of room, but there is no order in your home is messy with stuff everywhere! If this is the case you probably need some organisational help!

If you have never organised your home before and don’t know where to start, here are 10 Home Organisation Tips for Newbies:

1.     Create a Shoe Basket

If you place a shoe basket or bin inside by your front door, you will immediately eliminate shoe clutter before anyone enters the main part of the house. If the shoes have a place to go, there won’t be shoes getting kicked off in the middle of the living room. This really helps if you have little ones.

2.     Hanging storage for jackets, bags and backpacks

If you don’t have a coat closet you can hang up a rack with hooks on it. When you come inside you will immediately have a place to hang your belongings and they won’t get piled up.

3.     Mail Sorter

There are many different mail organizers available that hang on your wall with slots for mail and magazines. You can toss your mail in the pockets to go through later in the day, or you can sort it by junk, bills, coupons etc. This will help to eliminate paper clutter on your counters.

4.     Key Hangers

Mount a key hanger right inside the entrance to your home. As soon as you come inside you will have a spot to hang your keys and you will never have to worry about them getting lost.

5.     Under the Bed Storage

If you don’t have a lot of closet or wardrobe space you can use under the bed organizers to store your winter or summer clothes for the next season. This works great for toys too!

6.     Toy Baskets

To avoid toys being scattered all over the house or dumped in piles, consider creating toy baskets. You can have different baskets for specific toys, books, stuffed toys etc. When you label them with a picture, then the kids know exactly where to put their items when they are cleaning up.

7.     Create a Cleaning Basket

Keep all of your cleaning supplies in one basket with a handle. This makes it easier to carry from room to room when you are cleaning and keeps all of your supplies in one place for easy access.

8.     Wardrobe Storage

Designate baskets for specific clothing items and smaller baskets for socks. Over the door shoe hangers are a great place to store your shoes if you are low on space. Consider investing in good wardrobe storage solutions. Some of the best ones fit right in in your bedroom so you can make better use of the space you have.

9.     Kitchen Storage

Use baskets and bins to store food in your cupboards or pantries. It keeps like items in the same place and helps things to stay together and not get lost.

10.  Bathroom Storage

Hang some wall shelves or get a small shelving system. You can fold your towels neatly on the shelves and use pretty baskets to store personal hygiene items and washcloths. You can keep your cleaning basket stored underneath the bathroom sink or up on a high shelf.

Having some good organisation ideas in place can help to keep your house clean and tidy. Once you get used to putting everything in it’s designated place you will see that your house will go from messy to clean a lot faster than before, and you’ll be able to relax and enjoy your home.
