Finalists announced for the Australian Veuve Clicquot Business Woman Award 2012. One of the country’s leading retailers has been nominated for prestigious women in business award.
When it comes to inspiring women in business it is fair to say that Queensland's Lorna Jane Clarkson ranks highly on most people's list.
And after launching a successful clothing line and releasing her first book, it is not surprising that the founder and creative director of Lorna Jane has been shortlisted for the Australian Veuve Clicquot Business Woman Award 2012.
As a business owner Ms Clarkson has more than 21 years experience in retail and 120 stores dotted in towns and cities around the country.
In her role at Lorna Jane the entrepreneur has also overseen the release of her own range of hi-tech performance fabrics that are an important part of the brand's continued popularity among women of all ages.
Another reason may be the company's holistic approach to fashion and fitness that continues to promote and sell the message that a healthy body image is part and parcel of an active lifestyle.
The author of Move Nourish Believe: The Fit Woman's Secret Revealed and ambassador for healthy living is the only fashion identity to receive a nomination in this year's awards program, but that does not mean she is the only high-profile person in Australia to take part in the industry event.
Also making the cut off were OzHarvest chief executive officer Ronni Kah, Woodside Cheese Wrights chief executive officer Kris Llyod, T2 chief executive officer and fellow retailer Maryanne Shearer, and Australian Innovation Systems director Elena Goose.
But the ambassador of one of Australia's leading active wear ranges will have to wait until International Women's Day (March 8) to find out whether she will take home the main prize at a lunch catering to more than 100 influential businesswomen from around the country.
However, this will depend on the verdict of this year's judging panel which is reported to include a number of industry and market leaders from a cross-section of the community.
In 2012, the last time the ceremony was held Down Under, internationally renowned designers Sarah Jane-Clarkson and Heidi Middleton from Sass & Bide won the award.
In the event the retailer is awarded this year's top honour Lorna Jane's namesake will become the recipient of a silver bottle trophy, trip to one of the world's most stylish destinations – France – and chance to take part in the company's international forum.
Veuve Clicquot Business Woman Award is a bi-annual event in Australia however it is also held in 16 countries around the world since being established in 1972 to commemorate Madame Clicquot, who founded the champagne brand.
