Veronika Cvak from Roxburgh Park in Melbourne (pictured) has won Australia’s first ever search for a plus size model competition. The twenty year old has beaten over 2800 contestants, winning a $30,000 contract, to become the new face of City Chic, Australia’s leading plus size high street retailer.
“I can’t believe I have won the competition, it has been such a thrill just to be involved, I never thought that I would actually win a modelling contract,” said Veronika.
Runners up Blaise McCann from NSW, and Courtney Maxwell from QLD both win a professional modelling portfolio and a City Chic wardrobe valued at $1000.
Gary Dakin, Vice President of Ford Models New York (NY), crowned the City Chic beauty at a star studded event held in Sydney last night.
“Australian girls are absolutely stunning and City Chic’s modelling competition has been such a huge success, the girls really reflect the beauty and the diversity of the country,” said Gary Dakin, Vice President of Ford Models New York.
City Chic teamed up with Ford Models NY and BGM Models Australia to launch the nationwide competition, scouring the country to find Australia’s leading model with a plus.
“Sassy, sexy and chic – Veronika embodies all the qualities of the City Chic brand and we’re delighted to have her on board as the face of the label,” said Phil Ryan, CEO of City Chic.
“With the average Australian woman sized 14-16, we believe it’s important to show women they can look chic and fashionable as well as finding a stunning face for the brand.”
In addition to winning a two year contract valued at $30,000 as the face of City Chic, Veronika will receive an exclusive photo shoot with City Chic and Cosmopolitan magazine including a feature in the magazine, a $1,000 City Chic wardrobe and an opportunity to be signed on with leading Australian modelling agency, BGM Models.

I am Blaise McCanns mother and Blaise found the whole experience fantastic and has met some lovely fellow contestants. As her mum i think Blaise should have won, but Im sure there will be a great future ahead for her and I am happy that she will be finishing school and going to university, because beauty and brains will take her further than just beauty alone. She is proud to be a role model for young teens who arent a size 8 or 10.

Hi Lorraine
I do agree that beauty and brains will take Blasie much further in life but I do think that she should have won this title. Anyhow she looks great on all her photos and we hope to see her soon over here in Sweden.
