Italy is one of the most amazing destinations for people who want to visit exotic places. However, Italy also have several unique and virgin places that people don’t often see in Italy vacation packages. With this, we are going to list down some of the off beaten paths you can visit when in Italy.
Ascoli Piceno
One of the places that you should visit is Ascoli Piceno. Ascoli Piceno is a small town located at the border of Le Marche-Abruzzo and is 15 miles away from the Adriatic Coast. This town offers several dishes like the famous Olive All’ascolana, a meat-stuffed olive that is fried until golden brown.
If you happen to visit during the 21st of April or before the 1st of May, you can experience their Fritto Misto festival. Here, locals will showcase their best-fried delicacies. Once you are done with the food tour around town, you can set your path down to the Piazza del Popolo, a 9th-century piazza. You can also discover several beaches and vineyards along the way to Le Marche.
Sardinia Island
The island of Sardinia is loved for its exclusive and luxurious beaches on the northern part of the island. However, some people have never visited the rest of the island. To experience their traditional way of life, start your tour in Cagliari, Sardinia’s capital city.
From Cagliari City, you can go to Barumini Nuraghe which is located in the northern part of Cagliari. You can see the ancient stone towers here. Before going to Barumini Nuraghe, take some time to stop at San Sperate and see their murals as well.
Barbagia Mountain Villages
After Barumini Nuraghe, head to Barbagia Mountain Villages. People in Barbagia are famous for upholding their ancient tradition throughout the years. During the Fall seasons, these mountain villages celebrate several festivals like the Autunno Festival. If you are into art, you can stop by at Orgosolo and Mamoida for their murals and mask carving arts as well. You can also see several interesting masks in the Mask Museum in Mamoiada.
Alghero
Alghero is located on the northwest part of Sardinia island. They’re known for retaining the Catalan heritage that was left by their ancestor. You can enjoy several beaches here, and while you’re relaxing under the sun, you can book an overnight stay at the Villa Las Tronas and venture out in Costa Smeralda and Cala Gonone in the eastern part of the city the next day.
If you are tired of the beaches, you can head out to the Roman and Punic sites of Nora. You can see several archaeological remains there. Aside from that, you can also seek out the Phoenician-Roman Port of Tharros. Around the same area, you can check out one of the Romanesque churches that are restored by the Italians too.
