4 Things to Look Out For When Bra ShoppingRegardless of your cup size, finding a bra that actually fits can be difficult. From A cups to J cups and every measurement in between, every type of body has different needs when it comes to comfort and support. If you ever feel out of your depth when shopping for bras, there are ways to avoid wasting your money on unsuitable purchases.

Be sure to look out for these 4 things the next time you’re in the lingerie section:

Comfort

Always try before you buy! There’s nothing worse than spending your money on a bra only to find that it doesn’t fit, or causes you discomfort in some way. Rather than grabbing just any old bra off the rack and heading straight to the cash register, take the time to see how it feels. Everybody is different, so it’s important to find a bra style that suits you. For example, you should make sure the back band doesn’t ride up, the underwire sits flat across your chest, and that your breasts fill the cups comfortably.

Erratic Sizing

If you always buy the same size bra no matter where you’re shopping, keep in mind that sizes can vary from one brand to the next. For example, you might be a 10D according to one brand, while an 8C might fit you better in another brand. Never assume that all bras are made equal!

Professional Fitters

Sometimes, you just need a bit of help. Having a professional bra fitting can change your life! By examining your body type and allowing you to try on a whole range of different bras, a fitter can tell you the best styles and sizes for maximising comfort. Many department stores offer complimentary bra fittings, but there is also a wide variety of specialty retailers – such as Big Girls Don’t Cry (Anymore) – who have professionally-trained staff on hand to help you get the right fit. Some people may get a little nervous about undressing in front of a stranger, but you can be sure that store professionals will always make you feel comfortable.

Quality

When it comes to bras, you usually get what you pay for. Cheap bras are often uncomfortable, and won’t hold their shape for longer than a few months. So, apart from the price tag, how can you determine the true quality of a bra before you buy it? For starters, when you first try it on, a brand new bra should feel firm against your skin without being overly tight. If the fabric itches or stretches to the point of transparency in places, that’s usually a strong indicator of poor quality.

By keeping an eye out for these 4 things, you should have no problem finding a bra that fits your figure perfectly. And remember, think of your bra as an investment – a good one should last you years and make you feel comfortable and confident.
