Internet SecurityDid you know you can get a free SSL Certificate? If you are the owner of a website which participates in lite e-commerce, then obtaining SSL is important.

An SSL, also known as secure server, is a requirement for those operating e-commerce. The SSL certification allows businesses to obtain a one-year functional chained root SSL certificate that is great for sites offering a storefront. However, this is done for those sites deemed low volume. In order to specify which online stores are low volume, weekly sales must be calculated under 50 units and the transaction amount will be at or under 54 AUD. Those over 50 units weekly should look into professional SSL certification.

Some are surprised that they are able to get a SSL certificate free. There are steps in order to obtain the certificate; however, they are extremely easy. Surprisingly, there are only two stages to complete to get the certificate. You will need to follow the instructions precisely when using the RapidSSL.com website.

Stage one: authentication by telephone
This stage involves a phone call placed to a reachable number that you enter during registration. You will be prompted to enter the PIN that is displayed during set up. This is a security feature, which means this stage cannot be passed by to get the SSL certificate free.

If by chance you do not have a working telephone number, you will be sent an email with further instructions on how to go forward with this step. You are also able to discuss any complications with live chat.

Stage two: email approval
Once the telephone authentication stage is complete an email will be sent to your inbox. This email is an approver email that will finish the process. You will need to follow the directions that are included in the approver email. Within the email is a link that you will need to click on. If this step is not completed, then you will not be able to receive the certificate. If you find that you have not received this email, check your spam folder in order to see if the email was directed to that folder.
