Moving into your home can be a great day, and you can’t wait to sort out the home. The lounge room is one of the first rooms you will sort when you move into the house. Here is a checklist for your lounge when you first move in.

Fit carpet or flooring

One of the first things you need to do in your lounge is to ensure there is carpet or wood flooring in there. If there is no carpet or you feel it’s looking old, you will need to get some new ones fitted. You will have to get a professional to do it; go to the store and ask them to come out to give you a quote. It’s best to check what other rooms need new carpet so they can give you one total price, and complete it all at the same time. Remember to go for a color which is durable for the lounge. You will end up with marks over time which you can see clearly if you go for a cream or white.

Sort out curtains or blinds

Another thing you need to sort out is either blinds or curtains for your home. You need to make sure no one can see in your lounge so you can have some privacy. You could choose to go for curtains; make sure you measure the window correctly, so you buy the right size. Or you could choose to get blinds instead. Look online and Click to buy venetian blinds if you think they will look perfect for your home. You might want a company to come out and give you a quote for blinds for your home. We talked previously about questions you should ask the blinds salesperson before you agree to let them do them.

Paint the walls

One of the first things that’s on the checklist for your lounge is to paint or wallpaper the walls. Decide what theme you fancy going for before choosing a colour to try out in your lounge. You can get testers before you decide to do it, so take it home and see what you think. Make sure you don’t go for something too dark in your lounge. You want something that will look great in the natural light. Remember it’s hard to change the color once you have done it, so go for something you will love for years to come.

Buy a sofa

You need also to get a sofa sorted when you first move into your home. Your lounge won’t be ideal without somewhere for you to sit and chill out. You should measure the area and then choose a sofa which will fit in nicely without taking up much room. If you can’t afford to buy a new sofa, you can often pay for them on a monthly basis. You can also get second-hand sofas from stores and use that with a throw or cushions till you can afford to get a new one.

Don’t forget to fill the lounge with photos so that people know that it’s your home.
