Cheer Up A Friend. We’ve all been there; life’s got us down, and we can’t quite seem to pick ourselves up. If you’ve noticed that a friend has been a little down recently, you might want to cheer her up.
Whether she’s having a tough time at work or going through a breakup, showing that you care is the perfect way to give your friend a boost. When we care about people, we don’t like to see them in pain – naturally we want to help.
To help cheer your friend up and make her day a little better, here are a few simple things you can do:
Invite her for a coffee
Sometimes, when we are feeling down, all we need is a friend to listen to us rant. Invite your friend out for a coffee and spend some time listening to her problems – she’ll really appreciate it. You don’t need to try and solve the problem, all you need to do is listen to her talk.
By talking to you about the situation, your friend may stumble upon a solution. Or, she may feel better by venting and getting what was upsetting her off of her chest. Going for a coffee and a chat with your friend could be all it takes to put a smile back on her face.
Surprise her with flowers
There’s nothing nicer than receiving a surprise bunch of flowers when you’re feeling down. There’s something about flowers that help to instantly boost your mood, increasing your happiness. So whatever you friend is upset about, sending her a bunch of her favourite flowers could be the perfect way to make her feel better.
Choose a bunch of her favourite flowers and arrange for them to be delivered to her home or workplace. Along with the flower delivery, arrange to have a cute little card delivered to her. Pick a design that you know will make her smile – a quote could work well, perhaps.
Have a laugh
As a wise person once said, ‘laughter is the best medicine’, and they were so right. When you’re feeling down, one of the easiest ways to lift your spirits is by having a good laugh. Think about ways you can make your friend laugh, such as with a trip to the cinema to see a funny movie or a night out watching live comedy.
If your friend doesn’t feel like going out, bring the comedy to her. Grab a couple of funny films, a bottle of wine and the girls, and head to your friend’s house for a comedy night. Laughter really is the best medicine, so having a laugh with her is the ideal way to pull your friend out of her depression.
Go for dinner
Spend some quality time with your friend by arranging to go out to dinner together. There’s something nice about getting out of the house, going out and eating with another person, especially if you live alone.
Inviting your friend out to dinner will give them a chance to pamper themselves and get all dressed up. It will also give them the opportunity to relax and spend a couple of hours having fun – just what she needs to cheer her up.
When someone you care about is feeling down, it’s natural to want to help make them feel better. While you can’t fix the problem, what you can do is show them that you care and want to help.
