Style Tips to Survive the Sweltering Australian Heat

With record-breaking temperatures becoming the nor, more and more people in Australia are spending the summers indoors instead of outdoors, on the beach, or traveling in an RV. Not only because all that heat can make you feel uncomfortable, but because it can make you feel like an ugly, sweaty blob, and going out when you don’t feel like you’re putting your best foot forward isn’t any fun!

Believe it or not, but there are plenty of things you can do to look stylish and beautiful, even when the temperatures climb. Here are some style tips that will help ensure you look your best, no matter how hot it gets.

Cover up Your Hair

Dealing with your hair in the heat is a pain. Straight hair gets sweaty and greasy while curly hair gets so frizzy it’s unmanageable. Instead of dealing with your locks, cover them up.

A baseball cap is always an option, but it isn’t a good solution for the woman who wants to look stylish. Instead, give hair scarves a try.

Scarves come in a wide variety of patterns and colors, and with multiple ways to tie them in your hair, your style will never feel flat.

Go Easy on the Makeup

A smoky eye and foundation are great when going out in the evening, but they aren’t a good idea during the day. It’ll all just melt off your face!

Instead, follow summer makeup tips that follow the principle that less is more. That means using a tinted moisturizer instead of caking on the foundation and using waterproof mascara so it doesn’t end up sweating into your eyes. Natural lips are a good idea too, which means sticking with the tinted lip balm and leaving your lipstick at home.

Choose Clothing Carefully

What you wear matters when it’s really hot outside. Some clothing tips that will keep you cool include:

  • Choose natural fibers, like cotton
  • Wear light colors, like white and pastels
  • Show some skin in shorts and a tank top
  • Structured fabrics will prevent sticking to sweaty skin

It’s also important to consider what’s comfortable to you. For example, a linen dress will keep you cool, but if you don’t wear dresses on a regular basis, a pair of linen shorts will likely be a more comfortable option.

Bring Along Your Own Way to Stay Cool

When it gets hot, it’s always a good idea to make sure you have tricks up your sleeve to stay cool. A hand fan is a fashionable way to create a breeze, and a large brimmed hat can create a little shade. On particularly hot days, drop a misting fan in your purse and always make sure you carry around a bottle of water.

Don’t let the heat keep you indoors! You can look fashionable and feel beautiful, even when the temperatures soar with these tips. That way, you can make the most of the summer season.
