The largest provider of employment services in Australia is calling on employers to join them in a bid to find 10,000 jobs before Christmas.

The MAX Employment Greatest Gift campaign aims to secure 10,000 jobs before Christmas to help relieve the additional financial pressure placed on struggling families, the long-term unemployed and the disabled, at this time of year.

MAXNetWork Managing Director, Deborah Homewood said while finding 10,000 jobs in such a short period of time was a challenge, the success of the 2011 campaign proved its an achievable goal.

“It would make for a much brighter Christmas for 10,000 currently unemployed people. We think giving someone who is unemployed a job is the greatest gift we can give,” said Ms Homewood.

Now in its second year, the MAX Employment Greatest Gift campaign not only aims to secure 10,000 jobs for the unemployed, it also raises money for charity. In addition to securing 10,000 jobs MAX Employment donated $100,000 to the Smith Family during last year’s campaign.

According to a recent report by the ABC’s Four Corners program, Growing Up Poor, there are more than 600,000 families in Australia with children under 15 years of age where neither parent is working.

“At this time of year, people are reminded that we all have a social obligation – to help others who are less fortunate – and as a result we get to see the difference it makes,” said Ms Homewood.

“People are not only better able to put a roof over their families heads, provide healthy food and meet their financial commitments, they are also more confident. All these benefits have a ripple effect, impacting not only on the person with the job but on their family, their friends and their community.”

“At MAX Employment it is not just about recruitment, it is about helping people change their lives. We need 10,000 employers to join us in giving the greatest gift, and offer just one job to change the lives of many.”

As a Job Services Australia provider, MAX Employment works with job seekers receiving Centrelink benefits, providing a wide range of employment services and programs at no charge to the unemployed. This includes the short-term and long-term unemployed, as well as single parents and people with a disability who face additional challenges in finding secure employment.

Ideally MAX Employment would like to find long-term positions, either full-time or part-time, but even a seasonal job would provide a job seeker with additional income for Christmas and provide new skills and experience.

Jobs can be across any industry including hospitality, retail, business administration, transport and logistics, trade and the care industry including aged and childcare.

“All we are asking is that employers think about the opportunities they have and register at our website. Even if you don’t have a vacant position now, you can still register so when you have a job available we can act even more quickly for you,” said Ms Homewood.

Employers can register online at www.maxjobs.com.au – or by calling 1800 625 350 (a free call within Australia).
