Virgin Atlantic have teamed up with Condé Nast Traveller to unveil the most stylish, innovative and luxurious hotels in the world – in their ‘Red Hot List 2009’.

With settings ranging from desert islands to capital cities, the list was chosen to cater for all tastes, and includes hotels from across the globe – and it appears it would take a little more than pool cabanas and Wi-Fi to impress in order to make the world’s top list.

Unsurprisingly, service comes high on the judging criteria – with the top hotels having to prove that they’re not all just style over substance. What they all have in common is that special touch, and the ability to know what their guests want, which puts them ahead of their competition.

Some of the categories in this year’s List include ‘Ones to Watch’ and ’10 Hot Hotel People’ – which interviewed famous names such as Robert De Niro, Michelin-starred chef Angela Hartnett, and entrepreneur Sol Kerzner on what their favourite retreats and hot locations are.
