If your business has taken off, and you have finally got to the stage where you have your own office and employees, congratulations are in order. It’s not easy building up your business into a successful company.

That being said, just because your have your own office and employees working for you, that doesn’t mean that things can’t go wrong. The mistake that many business owners make when it comes to having their own office is not having the right things on offer for their employees.

This can lead to an unmotivated workforce, which can then lead to issues for your company’s productivity. However, that doesn’t have to be the case. As long as you ensure that your office has everything that your employees need to work productively, you should be just fine.

Want to know more about what every commercial office should have? Yes – then make sure to keep reading below, for our guide to four things that every office needs:

1. Comfortable office chairs

One thing that can demotivate employees is uncomfortable office chairs. It may not seem like a big deal, but imagine spending all day working while sat on a chair that is uncomfortable. Not a nice thought is it?

If your employees are uncomfortable, they will be less motivated, and so your company will suffer. That’s why it’s crucial that you invest in comfortable chairs for your employees to use.
There are lots of office chair designs that you could choose from, but one that comes highly recommended is the Embody Chair by Herman Miller.

2. Breakout spaces

Don’t make the mistake of encouraging your employees to eat lunch at their desks instead of socialising with their colleagues. Far too many business owners provide their employees with nowhere to eat lunch apart from at their desks – this shouldn’t be the case.

If you want your employees to be more motivated at work, it’s important that you encourage them to socialise during their breaks. The best way to do this is to have breakout spaces created, complete with tables and chairs.

3. Water machines

Yes, your employees could bring a bottle of water to work with them, but there is something much nicer about filtered water. Not only is it easier and more convenient for your employees to grab a drink of water, if you have a water machine installed. But it also means that the water that your staff drink will taste nicer and be chilled, instead of warm and horrible.

By installing a water machine in your office, you can show your employees that you care about them, which should motivate them to work harder. Employees like to know that they are cared about and valued.

4. Storage areas

Many companies make the mistake of not having storage areas in their offices. This means that employees have to store their stuff under their desks while they work, which can be uncomfortable and annoying.

To give your employees somewhere to store their bags and coats, why not invest in lockers? This would give each employee somewhere safe and secure to store their things so that they wouldn’t have to carry them around all day.

To ensure that your employees are as happy and motivated as possible, consider investing in these four things.
