With Christmas around the corner you may be running through all sorts of amazingly creative gift ideas – but have you run your numbers? Christmas is a tough time of year to get tough on your finances but it can be good time to set some limits for yourself – and avoid that massive stomach-drop when the credit card bills come in early next year. With a little planning and few budget friendly ides from debt experts like Debt Rescue you can have your merry Christmas – and a far less stressful new year.

Instagram Canvas Print

If you purchase a print, this can be quite costly but you can use Instagram to make your own. Prints are a great idea because whatever your partner’s interests, you’re sure to find a scene that suits their pet theme. Whether it’s puppies or Porsches – or just a motivational phrase – your partner is sure to appreciate the thought you put in, and you’ll appreciate being able to afford a gift and a card.

Novelty Items

While novelty mugs and bottle openers may seem a little on the lame side, if your partner is passionate about something and you tie your novelty item to their passion, you have a winning combination. Whether it’s one of those intricate tin bike sculptures, or a mug shaped like a digital camera, the gift shows thought and care – and that’s really all your partner probably wants.

Books

Yes, good old books. It may be old fashioned, but a good read makes an excellent gift – and if hard copy is too expensive, you can always get your partner an ebook. These often cost a lot less. Books make great gifts because, once again, there is such a wide range of topics that you’re sure to find one your partner will like.

An Experience

Your gift doesn’t have to be something you can wrap up. How about arranging something special with your partner that costs next to nothing? A night out camping under the stars for example, or a special dinner cooked at home. Maybe send the kids out for the night? You could also try writing a poem or a song; even a love letter. Google can be a great help if you find this kind of thing hard to do, but you know your partner really likes it.

Food

Lastly, what makes a better gift than some sort of gourmet food? A special dessert sauce, or some kind of farm-bought honey is often a good way to go. Perhaps some special chillies, or a marinade you know they’ll love. The best thing about food-based gifts is they do get used, and you can buy the same thing again for the next big occasion if it’s a hit.

There are always ways to impress without breaking the bank. Perhaps you could have an arrangement with your partner with a budget limit for Christmas presents. Then see how creative you can both get.
