Living rooms are for living but over the years they can become worn and tired looking. The living room is an integral part of any household and as such, should be regularly revamped and maintained. So here are 5 tips to help you spruce of your living room.

Repair Glass Sliding Doors

Many living rooms have glass sliding doors, but over time they can become smeary, scratched or difficult to open and close. This is often due to a build up of grit or because the door’s rollers have worn down. This can make your living room appear aged and unkempt. Often it is not necessary to completely replace sliding glass doors and instead you can enlist the help of sliding glass door repair specialists, such as AJ Doors Brisbane Repairs, to make your doors look and function as good as new.

Spruce up the Seating

Whether you have lounges, sofas or loveseats, over time the wear on your living room seating can become quite noticeable. Sometime a good clean with fabric cleaner and stain remover can revitalise your old seating, but other times it may be a good idea to replace your living room seating. While you are at it, try rearranging the layout of your seating to give the room a new and fresh feel.

Repaint the Room

Repainting is simple yet effective. Never underestimate the difference a little paint can do. Paint slowly discolours overtime and can become chipped and worn from everyday wear and tear. This can really age a room and make it uninviting. Even if the paint isn’t worn, but you feel like a change, a quick coat if paint can be all you need to bring your living room back to life. Try to choose a colour that will compliment the room and your house’s overall colour scheme.

Select a Style

As the years go by, living rooms trends change and so do our own personal tastes and preferences. If you have been living in the same house for a while it is easy to let your living room accumulate a hodgepodge of different furniture pieces, colour schemes and styles. This can leave your living room looking unorganised and cluttered. Select one in-vogue style that you like and stick with it. This will ensure your living room has a sense of continuity and order, making it far more appealing.

Freshen the Flooring

Whether your floor is tiled, carpeted or wooden, changing or revitalising your flooring can make a room look and feel completed new. If you have wooden floor, consider getting it relacquered or polished. If you have carpeted or tiled floor consider getting it professionally cleaned, steamed or replaced.

If your living room is looking tired or worn down, or if you simply feel like a change, giving your living room a spruce up can make it appear cleaner, fresher and more inviting. What have you tried doing to spruce up your living room in the past?
