On its first day of release in Australia, ‘The Curious Case of Benjamin Button’ has opened to a very impressive opening day figure of $1,177,000 for boxing day 2008.

Directed by David Fincher, starring Cate Blanchett and Brad Pitt, the film represents the highest opening day for any film starring Brad Pitt, passing ‘Troy’ ($1,150,000) and ‘Oceans Eleven’ ($1,120,000).

Also starring Taraji P. Henson, Tilda Swinton, Jason Flemyng, Elias Koteas and Julia Ormond, ‘Benjamin Button,’ is a grand tale of a not-so-ordinary man and the people and places he discovers along the way, the loves he finds, the joys of life and the sadness of death, and what lasts beyond time.

The strong opening continues the Australian tradition of successful Boxing Day blockbusters.

Roadshow Films National Marketing Manager, Phil O’neile comments: “The outstanding opening for The Curious Case of Benjamin Button marks a very successful launch for one of this summer’s major blockbusters”.

The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button has been nominated for 5 Golden Globe awards, Best Motion Picture (Drama), Best Actor (Brad Pitt), Best Director (David Fincher), Best Screenplay (Eric Roth) and Best Original Score (Alexandre Desplat).

The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button is currently screening on 251 screens across Australia.  For more information visit the official movie website http://www.benjaminbutton.com/

It’s one movie I am very interested in watching. It probably ends on a sad note, though…. 🙁
