Known around the world as the ‘Guru of Joy’, His Holiness Sri Sri Ravi Shankar has arrived for the Sydney leg of his Health and Happiness world tour, which has been providing the perfect antidote to the global financial crisis.

Through his stress-relieving, joy-enhancing teachings and practices, 3 times Nobel Peace Prize nominee Sri Sri Ravi Shankar has empowered millions of people around the world to create their own experiences of peace of mind, health and happiness, whatever their circumstances.

“It’s every human being’s birthright to live in a disease-free body and a stress-free mind,” says Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. “Yet, neither at school nor at home have we been taught how to deal with our negative emotions. Let me show you how.”

He founded The Art of Living Foundation to take his unique teachings and techniques around the globe. It now operates in 146 countries and over 200 million people have attended his courses and workshops. Run by volunteers, it has become the largest non-governmental humanitarian organisation in the world.

Sri Sri’s courses, which include the Sudarshan Kriya (SKY) are now offered in Australia. SKY is a unique series of breathing rhythms which detoxify the body, mind and emotions by promoting the release of cortisol and other stress hormones, leaving participants with a deep sense of peace and well-being.

In America, Germany, UK, Sweden, Denmark, South Africa – and just starting in Australia, the Art of Living courses are also being taught in prisons and detention centres, resulting in a corresponding reduction in recidivism amongst inmate participants. The courses achieve this by modifying inmate behaviour, reducing anxiety disorders, depression and addictions. Participants experience a new found self-respect, achieved through their own efforts, which supports them finally breaking free of the cycles of crime and violence.

Applauded by religious, political and business leaders worldwide, the ‘Guru of Joy’ is opening hearts and minds everywhere, and putting smiles on faces that even a financial crisis can’t take away.

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar will be giving a public talk at the State Theatre on Thu 2 April followed by his unique, stress-busting Health & Happiness Workshop on Sat 4, Sun 5 and Mon 6 April at Luna Park.
