On 30 June 2010, the ASX Corporate Governance Council introduced a number of changes to its Corporate Governance Principles & Recommendations including three new recommendations and other amendments relating to diversity. Although these changes will not take effect until 1 January 2011, ASX-listed companies are being encouraged to get started NOW on embedding diversity within the culture of their organisation.

The Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) have launched a free booklet which explains the new changes to the Corporate Governance Principles and Recommendations on diversity.

The AICD booklet New Corporate Governance Recommendations on Diversity – Tips for getting started, explains each of the changes and provides some practical tips to help ASX-listed companies to get started on embedding diversity within the culture of their organisation. It takes the reader through each of the new recommendations on diversity, provides some ideas to help companies with complying with the new guidelines and includes a checklist which companies can use.

The AICD booklet can be downloaded as a pdf document from the website: www.companydirectors.com.au
