As Australians turn their attention to the post Christmas clean-up, Planet Ark is encouraging people to watch their waste and recycle right this festive season.

Along with recycling greeting cards and used wrapping paper, Australians are being reminded about the many other items that should be recycled over the festive season, including; batteries, corks, electronic waste and food scraps.

“At a time of year when consumption levels are at their highest and more waste is generated than on any other occasion, the post Christmas clean-up is a great opportunity for us to reduce our environmental impact,” says Planet Ark CEO, Sean Barrett.

Planet Ark and Australia Post are working together to encourage Australians to consider the wide range of items and materials that can be recycled over Christmas.

From today, Australians can collect a limited edition, free recycling bin sticker (pictured) from participating Australia Post outlets, with details on how to access year round recycling information. The sticker is part of Planet Ark’s Festive Recycling Campaign, a new initiative aimed at reducing the environmental impact of the
Christmas and Australia Day holiday period.
