Spring is finally here and we can finally creep out of our winter fashion caves and step out into colourful, beautiful spring bursting with colours and fabulous prints.

What’s more exciting? Spring Racing and the fashion, glam and style that come with it.

Spring racing is the time of year that the nation stops to watch the incredible speed and power of the beautiful horses that race by and the excitement of placing your bets and watching your favorite horse win. However attached to this fascinating time comes glamour, style and prizes to be won. Well with a prizes that give you the chance to win a new Lexus and $6000 Myer shopping spree why wouldn’t you want to step out in your best style and enter the competition? Moreover, even if you don’t enter the competitions, you still want to dress for the occasion. It is a time for the ladies to step out and shine from the inside out! Women from all walks of life show off their feminine qualities and style up with colours, prints, patterns and matching extravagant hats, headpieces right down to matching shoes and clutches.

There are four important days involved in Spring Racing, Derby day, Melbourne Cup day, Oaks day and finally Emirates stakes day.

Derby Day kicks off on the 31st of October – here are the dress rules for Derby day, black and white is your dress code. However recommendations are, wearing both colours isn’t a must, wearing white on white can appear elegant and timeless but also allows you to stay cool in the warmer weather.

Here is your quick guide to fashion on each of these days:

Melbourne cup day, the race day that stop a nation. On the 3rd of November the nation stops to watch this very race however most workplaces and cities around the country will be holding events and competitions for the best dressed and these will be the talk of the day (of course we know the day is about the horse race ). However on this day it is time to make your mark and show off the fashionista that you really are. This is the time to dare to be daring. Colour is your best friend; Spring Racing is all about colour detail and exotic prints. This year keep an eye out for 70s inspired dresses and Japanese prints.

Finally on Oakes day, 5th of November another bright a colour day for the ladies. Chic, simple and stylish are always a girl’s best friend. Floral prints, lace and frills are the go and lots of pretty flowery prints. If 70s theme was not your option on Melbourne Cup day then Oaks day is another chance to get that 70s inspiration out in the open.

Emirates Stakes day concludes the 4-day Spring Racing cup carnival and is held on the 7th of November, a Saturday. This day is usually considered a family day and you are able to show off more relaxed attire. This brings in the ability to wear your pretty maxi dresses, A-liners and pastel coloured skirts.

Whatever you decide to wear and however you decide to style it, make sure to stand out this Spring Racing. One thing is certain, stay classy, bring out your feminine qualities and have fun, be bold be gorgeous and be beautiful but more importantly be comfortable, comfort is your best friend, when you’re feeling comfortable you exude confidence and a woman who looks confident and wears her outfit with grace will be sure to stand out.
