It can be hard to know where to start with your backyard when you first move into your home. That’s why we have created a checklist, so you know what you need to get for your backyard.

You should have a kids area

One of the first things you need to do to your garden is to make a kids area. It means that their outdoor toys can all be situated in one place in the backyard. That way, they won’t move into your space in the garden and cause the whole garden to look messy. You could get a playhouse so you can put all their toys in there for them to play with later. You should also get them a mini table and chairs, so they can sit on there while you’re dining outside. It’s great for when they have friends over as they can sit on the table and chairs with them, while the parents can sit with you.

You need a dining area

You need to make sure that your garden has a dining area so you can enjoy eating al fresco. It’s ideal for when you are entertaining outdoors with friends and family. It’s also excellent for just sitting and having a drink first thing in the morning. You need to make sure you get some cover so that you don’t end up getting burnt in the sun. You could consider getting Cafe Blinds by Awnings WA. These can easily be rolled up when you don’t need them. As well as protecting you in the sun, they are also excellent for protecting the food from wind and rain. They are often clear, so it means you can still enjoy views of the garden.

You need some garden lights

Another thing you need to do when you first move in is to buy some garden lights for your backyard. You will be spending long nights out there when entertaining. So you need some lights so you can see what you are doing! A typical choice is solar lights which come in so many different styles. You can also get some light from other devices such as a fire pit, which will keep you warm as well, as it gets colder in the evening.

You should plant some veggies

When you move in, you need to ensure you are utilising your garden. One way of doing this is by planting some veggies. Choose different ones to grow so that you can enjoy fresh vegetables when they are ready. It’s also a good talking point when people come over as they will want to see what you are growing. As this article reveals, you should plant veg such as potatoes and onions in early Spring.

You need a water feature

Another thing you should add to your garden when you move in is a beautiful water feature. It’s a great piece to add to your garden to make a statement. You can either buy one or you can make your own with these instructions.
