We all know to keep hues and product portions lighter during the day compared to night, but there’s also protocol for the many different occasions that pop up during the week and weekend. With these simple tips, you’ll be on trend no matter where you go.

The Office

This surprisingly can be a tricky one. Although you want your makeup to look natural, you also want to look polished and able to last for an eight plus hour day. Start by brushing on foundation with a makeup brush, set with powder and choose a natural, rosy color for cheeks and lips to make you look fresh but not overdone. Glamour’s Lipstick publication offers many helpful workplace eye makeup tricks—often the most difficult piece. One suggestion states that you should use a neutral shadow, an eyelash curler and a few coats of mascara to make you look awake even before your first cup of coffee.

Concert

Whether you’re going for a rock or boho chic look, let it mirror the tone and music of the band. What’s fun about concerts is that you can go all out with your makeup without looking out of place. Like the office, foundation and powder are a must to create a base that won’t melt off. Try a sparkly or bright cheek, shimmery eyes and lots of mascara. Be daring with colored contacts instead of fake lashes, which can be uncomfortable or even fall off. Although it seems like a small change, it really makes a difference. If you’re going big with the eyes, try a more neutral lip so your look really stands out.

Out on the Town

Girls, grab your shortest dress and highest heels because it’s time to let loose! Start with a matte base of foundation and powder, and highlight cheeks with a shimmery hue. For eyes, go smoky. Try a cat eye or wear a fun color with curled lashes and a few extra coats of mascara. If you go for a smoky or neutral eye, don’t be afraid to try a fun lip color.

Weekend Brunch

Go simple for the early mornings, and be sure to keep it light and fresh. Sweep on some pressed powder, a light but still there cheek and something light but sparkly on your eyes to make them look fresh and awake. Go for a neutral or pink lip, put on a few coats of mascara and you’re good to go!

Quick Shopping Trip

Even if you’re just running to the market for one thing, the days you don’t get ready are the ones that you see someone you know. To look your best no matter what awkward run-in occurs, brush on some powder, put on a light coat of mascara and some lipgloss. These simple, quick steps will make you look put together but not overdone.
