Summer car tripWhen summer rolls around, it can be a bit daunting for our feet. They have been hidden for the past four or so months, hibernating in your winter boots and thick socks. Now is the time to slip on those sandals and let your toes glisten in the summer sun.

Getting your feet summer ready is a job that can be done quickly and efficiently in the comfort of your own home. Neglected feet are very easy to achieve throughout the winter not the prettiest sight throughout summer; keep your precious feet pampered and pretty with these simple steps:

1. Soak and file
Begin your home pedicure treatment by removing any nail polish you are currently wearing, then start by soaking your feet in lukewarm water to soften your nails; to add a more calming and soothing effect, add a few drops of lavender oil. Grab a magazine and relax for 10-‐15 minutes, ensure you make this a relaxing task that allows you to unwind from daily stresses.

Invest in a good quality nail file; poor quality nail files can cause tears or splits in the nail, which can be very painful and lead to infections. File nails straight across, without making your nails too short to ensure you don’t incur any ingrown nails.

2. Buff your toes
Use a square block buffer to buff your toenails; buffing nails will get rid of discolouration caused by fake tan or previous nail polish. This beauty trick will smooth out ridges on the surface of your nail, help even out edges and gets rid of dry skin which will make your toenails smoother and more easily managed.

3. Say goodbye to hard skin
Hard skin around your heels and sides of your feet can be embarrassing, especially when having them on display throughout summer. Filing off any hard and dry skin is an easy way to rejuvenate your feet.

Always ensure you file dry feet, the skin becomes soft when wet and it can be harder to see what parts of your feet need attention. Use your file to evenly reduce hard, dry skin. Once you have removed all dead skin, soak your feet in warm water to prepare them to be exfoliated. Exfoliate your feet, massaging in the exfoliate all over your feet and toes; ensuring no area is left unattended. Your feet should be starting to feel revived and renewed by now!

4. Finish off with a polish
The final step for beautiful feet this summer is the polish stage. Don’t be afraid to go bright for summer –adding a pop of colour to your nails is a fantastic way to make a bold and daring statement! Choose a colour that will stand out; your feet are now ready to come out of hiding and be seen by the world!

Natural tones are perfect for a sophisticated look; nude nail polish looks amazing on clean pedicured feet. Paint one coat, finish off your magazine, then paint the next coat allowing enough time for the second coat to dry before you conclude your home pedicure.
