Lady with Hair ProblemWaking up without a hair out of place would be a dream come true. But sometimes we just don’t have time to brush before bed and in reality most of us will awake with what resembles a bird’s nest anyway! Here are five helpful tips to help you keep your hair looking healthy and shiny!

Tip 1: Healthy Body = Healthy Hair
Did you know that diet is as important for your hair as it is for your skin and general wellbeing? Just like your skin, your hair is a good external indicator of your internal health. Try to keep your diet balanced and eat foods high in protein, calcium and Omega-3 for optimum hair health! Some foods to include are fish, green vegetables like spinach and proteins like chicken or eggs

Tip 2: Massage Your Scalp
Before you apply your shampoo, be sure to rinse hair thoroughly with warm water first. When applying your shampoo, never use your fingernails to work it in, always use your palm and fingertips and focus on your scalp too! Massaging your scalp will help with circulation, encouraging growth and keeping hair shiny and smooth.

Tip 3: Never Brush Wet Hair
This one is easy and straightforward – never brush you hair while wet! This leads to brittle hair and can cause split ends. If you must brush your hair when it’s wet, try using a wide toothed comb to limit any potential damage!

Tip 4: Stop Washing Your Hair Every Day
Try to wash your hair less frequently. Washing your hair every day can remove the hairs natural oils and without them your hair is more likely to become dry and brittle.

Tip 5: Moisturise
Indulge your hair with a moisturising treatment at least once a week. This will help restore moisture and keep hair looking healthy and shiny. You could also try a deep conditioner, hair mask, or hot oil treatments.
