Founder of Daily Addict, a free daily email newsletter for Sydney’s style-conscious, Carrie Choo (pictured), has an insider’s view of the hottest events and lifestyle news about town.

Launched in 2008, Daily Addict’s reputation for uncovering the latest news on events, entertainment, fashion, store openings and more, has women signing-up in their thousands in order to get the most out of the Emerald City. But the men of Sydney needn’t feel left out of the loop, with a new edition of Daily Addict for men launching soon.

Carrie’s vision for Daily Addict was conceived after returning to Australia from a four year stint in London. “During my time in London I travelled to cities all across Europe packing in as many experiences as possible wherever I went. When I got back to Sydney I thought how absurd it was that you make such a huge effort to experience new things in a foreign city and don’t do the same at home. I wanted to create something for Sydneysiders that would let them get the most out of their home town,” she said

To achieve this aim, Carrie and the team at Daily Addict spend their work days and nights, mingling with the beautiful people at hard to access events and sampling the best of what Sydney has to offer. Yes, it’s a hard job but somebody’s got to keep their finger on the pulse of this thriving metropolis!

Carrie Choo told Australian Women Online, “We do see it as a real privilege going to new places and trying out new products. But we also filter out those things which are not up to the high standards our readers expect. We won’t write about it if it doesn’t make the cut because we have made a promise to our readers to give them the best experiences in the city. If we write about it it’s because it’s worth knowing about,” she said.

Content for Daily Addict is drawn from 10 categories ranging from culture to eat & drink and from entertainment to fashion. The newsletter’s own research seems to suggest that subscribers see the Daily Addict as more of a practical guide, than an occasional indulgence. The email newsletter has an open rate of 40% (the industry average is 20%) and a recent reader survey found that 73 percent of Daily Addict subscribers have attended an event featured in the newsletter.

Carrie Choo said of the newsletter’s success, “There’s no other offering in the market place like Daily Addict. We deliver premium lifestyle content to our subscribers and most importantly because we are delivered daily, we give our subscribers early access to the best of Sydney”.

Carrie added, “Daily Addict subscribers are smart, educated, cashed up and time poor. Their inboxes are flooded with emails every day and they value their limited free time so they’re looking for meaningful and fresh experiences that they can share with their family and friends.”

Following on from Daily Addict’s early success, Carrie Choo launched a new edition of the popular email newsletter in January 2009. The Dispensary is delivered fortnightly to email inboxes and offers subscribers access to exclusive deals, special offers and invitations to shopping events.

The newest edition of Daily Addict will be specifically targeted to the men of Sydney and will hit inboxes once a week.

“Women are catered to endlessly with magazines, websites, newsletters and blogs but the men of Sydney tend to get left in the cold,” said Carrie. “We wanted to create something for Sydney’s professional man that can keep him up with all that Sydney has to offer him.”

Carrie also said there are plans to introduce new editions of Daily Addict for the style savvy citizens of Melbourne, Brisbane and other Australian cities.
