Travel: 4 Cruise Tips for First TimersBefore we begin, a quick congratulations are in order as going on a cruise is a big deal! As a first timer, there are many things that you need to know before you embark on your voyage and these things could mean the difference between walking away with a good cruise experience or a bad one.

One might be led to believe that over thinking about all the packing and travelling is completely unnecessary; however , in reality, if you do not plan out each and every step beforehand, your vacation can very easily turn into a travel disaster.

Here are some tips for first time cruisers to make the on board completely hassle-free:

1. Planning Appropriately

Before you begin your journey, you need to plan it out thoroughly and give attention to every tiny detail; the itinerary, the type of cruise ship you’re travelling on, who you are going with etc. Your packing is also important as some cruises have a dress code that you need to uphold.

You want to get there ahead of time and preferably not become a part of the stampede as a result of boarding the cruise at the very last minute. Embarrassment aside, this is also a pretty good way forgetting some of the things you should have brought or misplacing them. any of your possessions. You should also keep an eye out for the weather and take with you an ample supply of lotions, moisturizers and sunscreen if appropriate. The better you plan, the more you will enjoy and have fun on your cruise.

2. Motion Sickness

If you suffer from motion sickness, and have a prior history of getting sick during long commutes then you need to have suitable medications for it or take precautionary measures beforehand. Lemons happen to be a great cure for seasickness. The Sea Band wristband also helps with the sickness and vomiting you experience as a direct result of motion sickness.

Many people plan well but forget that they cannot travel long distances without getting sick. So the best option is to carry suitable medications and remedies for seasickness to continue “cruising along” smoothly.

3. Cabin Selection

No two cabins are the same. Each cabin has a different setup and location on the ship and with it comes certain pros and cons. The earlier you book and inspect your ticket, the higher the chance of you finding the most suitable cabin that accommodates your needs. Come in last and there is a chance you might get a cabin right next to the engine room.

4. Communication

You simply cannot leave everything behind and decide to go on a cruise one day. When you go on one, you need to make suitable arrangements at your workplace and home so that nothing goes awry as a result of your absence or not communicating to the those who need to know that you’re going to be going away for a while.

But that is only possible if you have communicated to the right people what they should do should matters need to be taken care of in your absence. Make sure you have a working cellular network that gives you good signal in the middle of the ocean. Keep your phone battery charged up and scout your cabin beforehand to see where electrical sockets are located. Be that as it is, keep with yourself a personal power bank in case of emergencies or power failures on the cruise ship, so that you are not completely shut out.

Look for a cruise like Flowerpot Island Ferry Cruise to enjoy yourself to the fullest.
