Companies and government agencies can now improve the personal productivity of their time constrained executives by utilising world class high definition video collaboration facilities in Telstra’s Executive Briefing Centre (EBC) opened in Melbourne this week by Telstra CEO, Sol Trujillo.
The new state-of-the-art centre links Polycom® RealPresence™ immersive telepresence suites in both Melbourne and Sydney to provide the first commercial deployment of this capability in Australia.
The use of the Polycom® RealPresence™ immersive telepresence suites will allow executives in Melbourne and Sydney to communicate with each other as if they were meeting in the same room. The facilities can help reduce the need for senior executives and company directors to travel interstate for meetings, saving valuable time and helping to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
The EBC is the flagship of Telstra’s Executive Briefing Network, a range of facilities in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth and Canberra connected by fully-managed high definition video conferencing equipment deployed over Telstra’s world leading Next IP™ network.
Telstra’s enterprise and government customers can also experience a range of other video collaboration facilities available through the Executive Briefing Network for meetings, briefings and collaborative project work.
Telstra CEO Mr Sol Trujillo said this new facility is another demonstration of how Telstra’s innovative partnerships with the world’s leading technology vendors are delivering real benefits to our customers. Telstra’s products and partnerships are helping drive productivity improvements and improve enterprise and national competitiveness.
“I use Telstra telepresence and video conferencing facilities extensively. I can personally attest to how the use of such facilities results in a more effective use of my time and that of my executive team,” Mr Trujillo added.
David Phillips, Senior Vice President, Worldwide Sales at Polycom praised the new facilities, saying Telstra’s new Executive Briefing Centre is one of the best implementations of this technology I have seen anywhere in the world. It is truly a world-leading example of how collaborative communications technologies can help organisations improve personal and enterprise productivity, lower costs and, by reducing the need for business travel, help reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
The Melbourne EBC is also part of a national customer demonstration capability established by Telstra to allow its enterprise and government customers to truly experience the benefits and value of Telstra’s integrated solutions and products through briefings and hands-on demonstrations.
