It is yet another working day and like most working days, you are probably beaming with raw enthusiasm and optimism that this is going to be a year of marvelous adventure and achievement in business. But is it? All your business goals are in place, strategies have been laid out and working schedules have been filled. The real question is if that is everything that it takes to take your business to the next level. Think again.

Here are the 2 least obvious things entrepreneurs need to embrace to tackle all the business hurdles on their way to a successful business year.

1. EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE

If you were to ask people to state their wish list, you would probably not miss something like ‘I would like to be more in control of my feelings’. How would things be if we had the capacity to change our feelings at will? How would it be if it were possible to command feelings and choose how to feel in a given situation?

Well, such should not be your wish because you already possess the power to change your feelings. Centrally to most beliefs, we are the masters of our feelings. We can control how we feel at any given time, with anyone, and anywhere without letting things outside our control to influence us. This is not just an empty statement, it is the truth. The amygdala part of the brain is the one responsible for emotions, and if you have studied neuroscience, you will understand that emotions are voluntary aspects of human life. In other words, emotions do not just happen to us; we let emotions happen to us.

So, how do you control emotions?

One of the methods you can use to control your feelings and emotions is through what is called emotional disassociation. With emotional disassociation, you mentally step outside of yourself and begin to observe yourself; how you are reacting and how you are feeling.

Here, you picture yourself, first in the state you are, and if you are not happy with how you look and feel, then you choose the mood you would like to be in. It is like being a spectator of your own life.

The mind is a very powerful thing. After your experience with disassociation, you will come to appreciate the fact that you can wield immense powers over your emotions. Being in control and being the master of your feeling is the best thing that can ever happen to you.

2. PRACTICE CREATIVE VISUALISATION

Creative visualisation is the ability to use imagination, see images in our minds and make them come true.

An important step to achievement is creative visualisation. Many people know creative visualisation by different names. Others call it reflection and meditation and still others call it inner journey. However, does the name really hold any meaning? What is important is whether it can help you to achieve your goals faster than anything else.

The best companies are those whose top management and level management team employ the strategy of visualising goals while the best students are those who visualise themselves. Out of personal experience, visualisation seems to be the best avenue for problem solving. That is turning and overturning the problem in the mind until you notice where its solution lies. This gives birth to insight.

The results that come from the employment of creative visualisation are unimaginable. This is about seeing successes before they actually take place. It is difficult for your goals to materialise without practicing creative visualisation.

If we add concentration and feelings, it becomes a great power that makes things happen. Used in the right way, visualisation can bring changes into our lives.
