4 Spring Cleaning Tips To Welcome In The SeasonSpring cleaning is seen as quite a challenging activity, as it requires a lot of elbow grease, but when you see the difference it makes to your home, you’ll feel great. Try not to overthink your spring clean because if you feel overwhelmed, you won’t want to start anywhere. Work at a pace that suits you and take it room by room. See cleaning each room as a bonus, rather than an expectation.

Here are 4 spring cleaning tips to welcome in the season.

1. Have Your Carpets Professionally Cleaned

When people walk into your home, they drag in dirt from outside, contaminating your carpets. It’s likely your carpets are one of the more expensive things in your home, so it’s important to keep them clean to not only to show them off, but to extend their life too. Cleaning carpets is a huge job, so save yourself time and stress by outsourcing. Expert cleaners, such a Melbourne carpet cleaners Cheap As Chips are a great option as they not only steam clean, but also do carpet repairs, and won’t expect you to pay if you’re not happy with the service. Outsourcing a cleaner is a decision you definitely won’t regret, as a well-maintained carpet can last a long time, saving you money in the long run.

2. Air out Bedding and Pillows

Linen deserves an air out after a long winter cooped up inside, so as a special treat for spring, hang your bedding and pillows out in the sun. Spring is a great time to get into good habits, so start washing your bed linen on a once-weekly basis with hot water and eucalyptus oil.

3. Clean Ceiling Fans

What happens when you turn a dirty fan on? Mites scatter onto bedding and furniture, posing a health risk to you, your family and guests. This is why it’s important to include your ceiling fans in your spring cleaning plan. Before you begin cleaning, tape down the switch, for safety, and cover up furniture in the room. Spritz the inside of an old pillowcase with water and a couple of tablespoons of white vinegar. Then, ensuring you keep your head above the blades of the fan, slip the pillow case over each individual blade, and pull back, capturing the dust. Use a wet cloth for any residue.

4. Switch out Clothing

Invite a friend over, pour a glass of wine and play background music while you lay out your clothes on the floor. Make sure you can see every item, and then sort the clothing into four piles: a throw out pile, donations pile, a pile for what you think you can sell and the pile of items you want to keep. It will be easier to part with items knowing you will get something in return. If you still have trouble parting with clothing, apply the following rule: if you haven’t worn it in the past year or if it doesn’t go with at least two outfits, toss it.

Spring cleaning doesn’t have to be a chore. Try to make the most of the experience. After a thorough spring clean, your house will feel as good as new. It’s the perfect way to welcome in the season.
