Shaving, tweezing, waxing … it’s so time consuming!

In fact, according to research by beauty brand Escentual, women spend 72 days or 1,728 hours shaving their legs and 30 days tweezing their eyebrows in a lifetime.

And let’s face it, it’s not because we love doing it. But we do love having smooth shiny legs and clean, defined eyebrows. The good news is that there is another way. Laser hair removal is a simple process, using a laser light to destroy the hair follicle, causing the hairs to fall out. It’s effective and permanent – better still, it won’t take 72 days to get there!

If you want to gain some of that time back, and if you’re tired of shaving, waxing and tweezing, laser hair removal is a life-changer. Here are some of the other benefits:

It’s fast and efficient

The lasers are designed to treat an area the size of a 20c piece at a time. So, if you are getting your lip or eyebrows done, it generally only takes a minute or a few. If you want your entire legs lasered, it’ll take around 45mins. You’ll generally need 8-12 treatments to start with, and touch ups can be required. So that’s around 10-20 hours total for laser hair removal on your legs, compared to 1,728 hours shaving.

Limited pain, no itchy rashes

Let’s not sugar coat it – waxing and plucking hurt. Laser hair removal is a section-based treatment and so while it can sting a little, the pain is all in one spot – and the more treatments you have, the less pain you will generally experience. Not only that, but the hair doesn’t grow back as coarse as it does with waxing and shaving, so you’re less likely to have itchy, red bumps that can be uncomfortable and unsightly.

Leaves your skin soft

When you shave your hair, you’ll generally have stubble start coming back within 2-3 days. When you wax, it might take closer to 1-2 weeks, but the stubble still appears. With laser hair removal, there’s no stubble. And even when the hair does grow back (right before your annual touch-up), it’s much softer and thinner than it used to be.

No more ingrown hairs

With shaving or waxing, you’re more prone to ingrown hairs, which can be both sore and itchy. They’re also visible on the skin, which can make you feel like covering up when you should be baring all at the beach. Laser hair removal kills the follicle and removes the hair from the roots, which stops new hair from growing. As such, there are no ingrown hairs.

You’ll save money in the long run

You’d be surprised at the amount of money you spend on razors, soaps, shaving creams, waxing at a salon, and so on, throughout your lifetime. While laser hair removal is a larger investment up-front, the return lasts forever. Not only that, but of course you’re going to save a lot of time, and as they say, “time is money”.

If you are interested in laser hair removal, do your research. Find a reputable provider, check their references and call them to discuss your requirements or any questions you might have. If the company is very open and honest with you from the start, you’ll feel more comfortable throughout the journey.
