Whether you’re trying to raise money for a good cause, need some entertainment on a Friday night or looking to earn some extra cash. Recreating your favourite TV game shows at home could be exactly what you need to have some fun.

Reality game shows seem to dominate a mass majority of our screens throughout the week and even more on the weekend. Worldwide it seems we simply can’t get enough of TV game shows, the main reason for this is they are such great fun, and provide us with some much needed laughs. With summer coming it is the perfect opportunity to get friends and family together to create and play games based on your favourite TV shows. If you’re in need of some inspiration why not check out our list.

Catchphrase

This much beloved game show was originally based on the short-lived U.S versions, and its premiere dates back to 1986. Although it first ended in 1999, it was such a successful show they have brought it back and modernised it. If you and your family are always announcing the correct phrases when watching the show, and you still haven’t been accepted to play why not create your own at home. Choose a member to host your makeshift show, the host will also have to compile a list of phrases with answers, and increase the difficulty for different rounds. Typically you will need three players to start, which will then be narrowed down to one winner after two rounds. Although Catchphrase winners normally earn money, you could always swap the prizes to something else or just play for fun.

Deal or No Deal

This TV gameshow has to be on the list, as Deal or No Deal is a firm favourite around the world. This TV gameshow has also handed out more cash than any other TV show, with many players becoming winners. The objective for this game is for the contestant to obtain the highest amount of money. If you happen to be raising money for charity this game could be a great choice to play, if you host a fundraising games evening. First you will need some help creating the famous Deal or No Deal boxes. Once that has been done you will need a fair few participants to take part each player could donate some money towards playing. After all participants have been allocated parts you can crack on with the game. However to adapt it to be charity-friendly instead of winning the amount in the box if could be your target of how much money you need to raise.

X Factor

Most people who watch X Factor on a Saturday night only check in to see the audition process because they can be the best parts of the show. Whether you are with family, friends or raising money for charity this is one TV gameshow that can be recreated easily. If playing in the comfort of your own home you can pick two or three judges and then all you need is to choose which song you are going to perform. If, however you are looking to raise money for charity you will still need judges, but you can hold talent contest and raise money by charging the audience to come and watch. Then you are set to create your very own X Factor.

Come Dine With Me

Whether you need some extra cash or you just want to catch up with friends, Come Dine With Me is the perfect TV gameshow you can recreate at home. All you need is three or four friends or even family members. Then you can take turns hosting a dinner party, if you want to win some money between the four or five of you decide on an amount and pop it all in an envelope. Then mark each other’s evening out of ten, whoever gets the highest mark has earnt the money fair and square-just remember to score fairly.

Who Wants To Be a Millionaire?

Although the prize may not exactly make you a millionaire this TV gameshow can provide some fun entertainment for friends and families. All you need is a host, with a long list of questions and a set of answers; obviously three of the answers have to be false. You can then test out your friends and family general knowledge and have some fun.
