Alternative Treatments to try if you have Wrinkles and Fine LinesYou don’t need to spend a lot of money to treat wrinkles and fine lines – instead, try these alternative treatments for youthful skin. These natural topical solutions from antioxidant rich foods and oils and healthy lifestyle tips are key to getting rid of and preventing wrinkles.

Aging brings a lot of changes, and while you might welcome the wisdom, most people aren’t exactly happy with the physical changes that come along with it, especially the wrinkles. Suddenly, you just don’t look like yourself. To turn back the clock and regain a youthful appearance, many turn to top of the line treatments, but most of them are expensive, invasive, or full of chemicals. To get rid of your wrinkles and fine lines naturally, try one of these age-old alternative treatments.

1. Topical wrinkle remedies based on fruit, vegetables, and oils

Loss of skin tone and collagen often cause wrinkles, so try using these alternative topical treatments to promote healthy, smooth skin.

2. Carrot and olive oil face mask

Cut one large carrot into slices and steam them. Once their soft, blend them with a teaspoon of olive oil until smooth then apply it to your clean face and let it sit for 15 minutes before washing it off. Carrots and olive oil are both rich in vitamin A, also known as retinoid or retinol, a common ingredient in the best wrinkle creams and contain other antioxidants as well that help combat aging and increase collagen production.

3. Glycerin and vitamin E oil moisturizer

As you age, your oil glands slow their production, which leads to drier skin. Glycerin is a natural humectant, which helps keep moisture in without clogging your pores. It also helps promote healthy skin growth and turnover. While it’s a common ingredient in many skin care products like revitaline, you can also buy glycerin separately and mix it with an essential oil like vitamin E for added effects. Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant, which experts agree helps protect the skin from sun damage and can help prevent more wrinkles from forming. Add a few drops to your glycerin solution, mix, and dab it on with a cotton ball to moisturize.

4. Honey and vitamin C face pack

Like glycerin, honey is a humectant. It also has other interesting properties. Antimicrobial, antifungal, and antibacterial, honey can help treat scars and marks aside from wrinkles. Mix a small amount of Manuka honey with vitamin C, the best anti-aging product. Studies show vitamin C boosts collagen, prevents skin damage, and reduces inflammation. Mix vitamin C powder or lemon juice with the honey and dab it on your clean face.

5. You are what you eat – foods that protect your skin and smooth fine lines

Unfortunately, topical creams and products can only do so much. Much of your skin’s appearance depends on living a healthy lifestyle and eating the right kinds of foods.

6. Chow down on fruit and vegetables

Studies show the sun causes about 80 percent of wrinkles and fine lines. While sunscreen is certainly a must, another way to help prevent damage from UV rays is to eat more fruit and vegetables, which contain free-radical fighting antioxidants like vitamin A and C. These antioxidants protect your skin cells to prevent damage.

7. Get more omega 3 in your diet by eating fish

Omega 3 is a fatty acid our bodies don’t produce naturally, so it’s essential you get it from your diet. It helps maintain basic functions, promote healthy skin, reduce inflammation, and help keep skin moisturized. You can get it by eating fish, flax seeds, and walnuts.

8. Drink more cocoa

Buying a pre-made sugar packed cocoa probably won’t do the trick, but studies show drinking true cocoa protects skin from damage and prevents wrinkles. Cocoa is high in flavanols, which may explain its protective benefits. One study showed people who drank high flavanol cocoa powder in water for 12 weeks had stronger, smoother, and more moisturized skin. Not only that, sun exposure had less damaging effects.

9. Live healthy to look healthy

Beyond your diet, making some simple lifestyle changes can also help your skin and boy stay and look healthy.

10. Exercise regularly

Exercising can reduce fine lines and keep you looking young, even if you start later in life. MacMaster University found that people older than 40 who exercised three or more times a week had healthier, younger-looking skin, while those who didn’t exercise looked older.

11. Sleep well, and on your back

Sleeping with your faced pressed against the pillow causes wrinkles over time. To prevent “sleep wrinkles,” sleep on your back.

12. Reduce tension in your face with a facial massage

While it might sound a bit too luxurious, a facial massage can actually help reduce wrinkles and promote healthy skin by reducing tension and increasing blood flow, which stimulates cell growth.

By making changes in your lifestyle and treating your skin with these natural treatments, you can remove signs of aging and prevent more wrinkles from appearing. Although many rely on expensive treatments or chemical filled creams, there are many alternative treatments out there to keep you looking and feeling healthy inside and out throughout your life.
