7 Questions to Ask Your Laser Hair ClinicWith laser hair removal becoming more popular, how do you choose which laser hair removal expert to go for? Below is a list of 7 questions that you should be asking before booking your first appointment.

1. What qualifications do you have?

This is extremely important as with any other cosmetic or medical procedure. You need to be certain that the technicians are qualified to perform your laser hair removal and to an excellent standard. Most reputable clinics will have all of their staff qualifications, certificates and awards on record.

2. Who will perform my treatment?

This seems like an obvious question, but you want to check the individual technicians credentials. Ask questions such as how much experience they have and what type of training they have completed. Never let an untrained technician perform laser hair removal, even if they are being observed by a professional.

3. What type of equipment will be used and it is well suited to my skin type?

With new laser hair removal technology being developed constantly, it is a good idea to ask what type of laser the clinic will be using. Usually individuals with dark hair and lighter skin tones get the best results but other skin tones / hair colours can also be treated with the correct equipment.

4. How many patients have you treated with similar skin/hair type to me?

This is a great question as knowing if a clinic has treated people similar to you in the past and with good results will make you feel more relaxed about the procedure. You will find that many laser hair removal experts will have case studies of past customers to show you how effective treatment can be.

5. How much does the treatment cost and how many sessions will I need?

Getting to know how many treatments it will take to see results is key when planning laser hair removal. Knowing how much you will be paying over the course of the treatment also lets you plan each session better whilst sticking to your budget. It is a good idea to shop around and get more than one opinion on how many treatments it will take to see the best results. This also helps you find a clinic you are 100% happy with. Don’t be tempted to go with the cheapest option as this may mean that the clinic is using older technology or equipment and staff with less experience.

6. How much does the initial consultation cost and any relevant testing cost?

Every laser hair removal expert should perform a full consultation and patch test prior to treating you. Some companies will offer free consultations and some will charge a small fee for this service. This consultation is very important to your treatment as it allows the clinic to see how suitable your skin is for laser hair removal. During the consultation, ensure you let the clinic know of any medication you are taking as some may interfere with treatment.

7. What are the risks of treatment and how do you avoid them?

As with any cosmetic or medical procedure, there are risks and possible side effects that can come from laser hair removal. Many of us who have done our research online will already know of the risks and complications that may occur. Asking this question will allow you to see how honest the clinic is towards its patients. For example, if the clinic informs you that there are no risks whatsoever, instead of explaining all of the correct information, it is probably not the best place to go for the treatment. A professional laser hair technician will be able to fully explain the medical risks or complications that can occur in a way which is easy for you to understand and without bias.
