Cathy FreemanAustralian Olympic gold medalist and proud mum Cathy Freeman, has signed on as the new brand ambassador for the Coles Baby & Toddler Club. In addition to appearing in the advertising campaign, Cathy will also blog about her experiences as a mum and provide regular tips and advice to other parents at the Coles Baby & Toddler Club website.

The Coles Baby & Toddler Club is for mothers-to-be and parents of children up to the age of 5 and provides a resource of information including recipes, nutrition guides and articles to help mothers with young children. The club can be accessed on the web at www.coles.com.au/babyclub and via a free iPad magazine app which will be available for free download from the app store from 5 December 2012.

Cathy Freeman’s first blog post for the website focuses on her emotional journey during her pregnancy, how she adapted to the pressures of being a mother-to-be and how she handled this with the help of her support network which included her mother Cecelia and husband James.

The following is an excerpt:

Everybody at one point or another throughout my pregnancy helped put my mind at ease. I never for one second ever hesitated to call on any of them for their knowledge, understanding and support. Having mum around and bonding with her, appreciating that she had done this all before, with me and my brothers and sister was pretty special.

When asked to comment about her new role as ambassador of the Coles Baby & Toddler Club, Cathy Freeman said: “Becoming a mother has been a wonderful experience and since becoming pregnant, it has given me many great moments, insights and stories to record. Coles Baby & Toddler Club has provided me with a platform to share my experiences with other mums, who may be able to relate to what I have been through.”

The major drawback here is that membership to the Coles Baby & Toddler Club is available exclusively to flybuys members.

In a media release dated 22 November 2012, Coles said the reason they have linked membership of the Baby & Toddler Club to flybuys is to make it easier for mums and dads to redeem all the Baby & Toddler Club exclusive members only offers available to flybuys members. However, if you’re not already a member of flybuys, you can join as part of the sign-up process to the Coles Baby & Toddler Club.
