Aromatherapy can have a number of benefits, both physically and emotionally; it is a therapy that treats the mind, body and spirit.

When essential oils are implemented during a massage, the essential oils enter the skin through the hair follicles where they are absorbed in to the blood stream and circulated around the body, leaving you feeling cleansed, beautiful and most importantly, relaxed; a rarity this time of year!

Many people do not realise the significant and vital health benefits that the simple treatment of aromatherapy can provide, these benefits include:

1. Increased circulation. Aromatherapy stimulates the body and actively promotes circulation; an essential element when assisting the recovery of damaged tissue and any aches and pains.

2. Aromatherapy using lavender scents has been proven to ease anxieties and stress, and can help promote a state of inner peace and harmony, whilst decreasing any feelings related to anxiety.

3. Aromatherapy has been shown to decrease blood pressure, assisting to reduce blood pressure levels to a healthier range, and decrease pressure on major arteries such as the heart.

4. Although the treatment cannot directly cure insomnia, aromatherapy before bedtime can potentially help you fall asleep faster and stay asleep for longer. You could try Deep Sleep Dreamy Pillow and Body Mist from The Body Shop At Home™, just lightly spray your pillow before bed to ensure your body gets a more satisfying sleep

5. This type of treatment can be an excellent form of therapy for migraines. The best remedies to fight headaches and migraines include the use of peppermint, eucalyptus, rosemary and sandalwood oils. These oils are frequently used during aromatherapy sessions and have been linked to minimising pain associated with headaches and migraines.
