Having a clean house isn’t only good for mere appearances sake; it can also improve the health of the people living in it.

Once you rid your house of the old and welcome in the new, sweep the floorboards and vacuum the carpet, store away your valuables in the storage units like those offered by Fort Knox, you will undoubtedly notice a great difference. If at this point you’re unconvinced, here are a few ways a clean house can affect your health.

Encourages Productivity

Reading a book in an open field tends to be a lot easier than reading on a train carriage filled with noisy school children. The same logic can be applied to a clean house versus a messy house. The conditions of your immediate surroundings can have a huge influence on your level of productivity, and the reason is simple: Clutter is a distraction, and the less distractions you have around you, the more work you will get done. Everyone needs something to be inspired by, and in your case it is cleanliness. In other words, one of the main reasons a person’s house tends to stay messy for long periods of time is because nothing is inspiring them to do anything about it. It’s a bit of a trap in a way, but easy enough to break out of once you get started.

Clears Your Mind, As Well As Space

A clean house gives you the impression (the falsity of the impression is neither here nor there), of having fewer problems than you did when it was untidy. Sometimes simply knowing that you’ll be coming home to a clear and spacious domain will get you through the day with a seemingly lighter load. In a more practical sense, you will have less to worry about than a person with an untidy house. For someone as busy as yourself, mess at home is the last thing you should be thinking about. All it does is add to your already bulging stress levels, so tidy up and listen as your brain winds down.

Encourages Exercise

Regular cleaning has been known to stimulate further exercise. It’s a wonderful feeling to know that you’re leaving your house in good health; it gives you the motivation to work on your own health and fitness. Cleaning is also a form of exercise in itself, so if you’ve ever wondered how your friends maintain a spotless household, the endorphins that cleaning produces might have something to do with it. You can even shape your cleaning day into more of a workout session, simply by playing some lively music and maybe turning on the TV. It’s your own DIY gym! You’re welcome.

While the prospect of a clean house is easy enough to consider, putting it into practice will always be a challenge, and this is mainly due to the lack of energy one has when their home is a mess. In all honesty, the only way to break this cycle is to start cleaning and feel its influences wash over you, like a warm bath or a massage chair. Only then will the idea of health induced by cleanliness begin to make sense.
