So you’ve found your dream home, your old house has sold and now it’s time to pack up your life and move on. The only problem is, when it comes to moving house, you just don’t know where to start. Moving house can be one of the most stressful life events, that is if you don’t plan properly. When it comes to moving, being organised is crucial.

To get ready for your move and make it as low stress as possible, you will need to invest some time. However, come moving day when every little aspect of your move goes like clockwork, the time you’ve put in will seem more than worth it. It might seem like there’s a lot that needs to be done – there probably is, but don’t let that panic you. Stay calm and cool and take the tips in this guide on board, and you can ensure that your move is as stress-free as possible.

Use a removal service

The best piece of advice we can give you to make moving house easier and less stressful is use removalists. It might cost you to hire a removal company, but it will make your move much easier and more manageable.

Instead of having to find a truck to hire, load it up, drive it to your new home and then unload it, and all before unpacking the boxes at the other end. All you need to concentrate is packing and unpacking your boxes – minimal stress. It’s amazing how tiring moving house can be, hence why the easier you can make it for yourself, the better.

Get rid of any junk

Before you start packing up your home, it’s essential that you have a clear out of any junk. Over time, we collect bits and bobs that we don’t need. There’s no point paying to cart items that you don’t use to your new home, so having a clear out is crucial.

The best way to go about this is to focus on one area of the house at a time, starting at the top and working your way down. To make this process easier, it could be a good idea to hire a skip or a mini skip, that way you won’t have to make multiple trips to your local dump.

Label each box

The most important thing when packing up your home is to ensure that you’re smart about how you go about it. Don’t just throw items into any box, work on one room at a time, labeling each box. You can use colour coding to keep boxes organised, or you can simply write the room that they’re destined for, such as ‘Living Room’.

Don’t make the mistake of buying your boxes, instead, pick up old ones from your local supermarket. Moving boxes can be incredibly expensive, so if you can it’s best to use old supermarket boxes instead.

Moving house can be seriously stressful, there’s no doubt about it. However, if you take the advice above on board and are organised when it comes to your move, it doesn’t have to be stressful.
