Reasons To Keep Chickens At Home

Chickens. If you have ever considered getting some pets for your Home, chickens might not have been the first choice on your list. Many people keep chickens in their back garden and let them run around freely, lay fresh eggs for us to eat and even play with them. Believe it or not, having chickens in your garden can be a really wonderful thing, and here’s why.

Fresh Eggs

The first and most obvious reason to keep chickens in My Chicken Coop in your back garden is the fact that you will have access to fresh eggs all year long. Fresh eggs are second to none and they will take your breakfasts to a whole new level of awesome each morning. And if you have kids, they will never get tired of checking the chicken coop for eggs each morning.

Organic

When hens have been caged up in battery farms, they are fed corn, seed and cottonseed which are genetically modified for their purpose. This means that the eggs you get from these hens are not organic and therefore are not as healthy. By having hens on your garden you can control what they eat and ensure that they love the happiest lives they possibly can.

No Cruelty

The beauty about using eggs from your own hens is that you are not giving money to those battery farms who cage hens up and treat them horribly throughout their lives. By having them as part of your family you will be able to make sure that they are happy for years and years and that they stay healthy throughout their lives. Being in control gives you to peace of mind and you will get to see these innocent creatures living a normal life.

Save Lives

You could be a hero in your area and rescue ex-battery hens from a life of cruelty. Being able to save a hen from the slaughterhouse will be the most amazing feeling in the world, and every time you see your pet hens you will know that you have made a positive impact on their lives, and the world as a whole.

Free Fertilizer

If you love to garden and keep your garden looking stunning all year round, you can benefit from the manure which your hens will produce. Even though it might not sound like the most exciting thing in the world, the manure will make a huge difference to the soil in your garden and can allow your plants to really thrive.

New Family Members

Above all, the reason you will want to bring chickens into your living space is the fact that they will become part of your family. They are stunning animals and they are incredibly loving if you care for them throughout their lives. If you really look after them you will even be able to have a cuddle from them in the garden!

Chickens can be wonderful pets for families who cannot dedicate the time and money to a dog or a cat, because they will largely look after themselves as long as you feed them. They will also be incredibly good for teaching your kids about animals and how to look after them.
