One of the biggest teeth worries people face is that their teeth are starting to discolor. They can often go a yellow colour and look stained which is never attractive. Here are some ways you can improve the colour of your teeth.

Brush your teeth twice a day

The best way you can improve the colour of your teeth is by looking after your oral hygiene. You need to be brushing your teeth at least twice a day so that any bacteria which causes discolouration is removed. It’s easy to forget to brush your teeth, especially if you are rushing first thing in the morning. But it’s so essential if you want to improve the colour of your teeth. You should also ensure you floss daily so that you can remove any food particles still on your teeth.

Use mouthwash daily

Another way you can improve the colour of your teeth is by using mouthwash on a daily basis. It’s an excellent way of ensuring that any food which is remaining in your mouth after brushing is removed. It means your teeth will stay looking their best. You should ask your dentist for advice on which mouthwash would be suitable for you.

Eat fewer high sugar foods

You might be seeing the colour of your teeth going more yellow because of the amount of foods with high sugar you are eating. When we eat these high sugar foods, our outer layer of enamel wears away meaning we are left with yellow coloured teeth. Limit how many sweets and chocolate you are eating and have them just as a treat. Eat healthier foods and it will ensure your teeth stay their natural colour for longer.

Go for teeth whitening

Another top way you can improve the colour of your teeth is to go for teeth whitening. A lot of clinics will do this, such as Accent Dental Care. So research your local one and go and see them for an appointment. They will be able to help you get that beautiful smile back, and the treatment only will take around an hour. If you can’t afford teeth whitening, there are some do-it-yourself home kits you can try. Some kinds of toothpaste also claim if you use them, you will see an improvement in your teeth colour over time.

Cut back on alcohol and coffee

You can improve the colour of your teeth by cutting back on your intake of alcohol and coffee. We have talked previously about how you can notice yellow stains on your teeth if you drink a lot of coffee and red wine. You need to try and limit yourself to one or two cups of coffee a day and only one glass of wine every other night. Make sure you are brushing your teeth an hour or two after, so you can remove any potential stains. You also need to cut down on fizzy drinks and replace them with water or diluted fruit juice.

Following the tips above will ensure you keep a set of pearly whites for longer.
