Starting a company in Australia can be a great way to reach an international market and help people through your ideas. A successful company can be a boon to the local and national economy, which will put people to work and allow them to provide for their families. However, before you come to Australia, what will you need, and how can you make sure that you are operating your business properly?

Make Sure You Have the Ability to Start a Business in Australia

You may need to acquire business visa 188 (learn more about the 188 visa here) if you would like to being operating in the country. Business visa 188 is part of the Australian Business Innovation and Investment Program, which is aimed at helping the Australian economy grow at a faster pace. To earn this visa, you would first have to express your interest to the government. After expressing your interest, you would then have to be invited to apply for the visa. To earn an invite, your company would have to be nominated by a state government entity.

The Visa Lasts for Four Years

After you have been approved for the visa, you can travel in an out of the country for the next four years. You can also bring in a spouse and other dependents without issue until it expires. In many cases, you can apply to have the visa extended as long as certain conditions are met. However, you may be required to apply for an investment visa depending on what your role within the company is after the 188 visa expires.

Can You Bring Business Talent From Overseas?

Bringing people in to the country to work for your company is a little easier than gaining approval to start your company. However, any business talent that you bring in will have to prove that they are skilled workers who will make an impact on the national or local economies. Therefore, it may be best to hire those who are already in the country legally.

Will Your Idea Work?

Getting approval to start your company and finding the right people to help you run your company is going to take a lot of work. Therefore, you need to know if your idea is going to be a profitable one. Prior to beginning operations, you may wish to conduct market research and run limited promotion of your product to gauge how the market feels about what you have to offer.

Run Everything Through Your Attorney First

It may be worthwhile to have an attorney on your payroll who can help you determine what visas you need and if there are any other actions that you must take. If there are is even one document missing or one requirement not met prior to beginning operations in Australia, you could be sent out of the country or have your company shutdown.

Starting a company can be an exciting and profitable venture for you and your workers. However, make sure that you are doing everything right before spending time and money on your dream. Otherwise, your great idea may never make it to the market.
