hand holding recycle signNow, I’m sure we’ve all heard this time and time again; that recycling is one of the most important things we can do to our help our planet, and we should all take time to practice it throughout our day-to-day lives. And, although I’m sure many of us try to wherever possible – such as by making sure we separate the cardboard and plastics from the rest of our rubbish – it’s probably fair to say that we could all put a little more effort into it, particularly if you own a business.

Now, I know what you’re thinking, surely just by trying to enforce your workforce to recycle a little bit more isn’t going to make that much of a difference to the overall environmental status of the Earth, right? Well, you’d be completely wrong, because when you hear the phrase “every little helps”, it couldn’t be any more relevant when it comes to waste management – you really can help to make a difference.

But, aside from just benefiting our environment, taking recycling can seriously help to benefit your business, too – in many more ways than I bet you could ever imagined.

To start with, reinforcing the importance and actually physically carrying out recycling in your office environment can help to work wonders for your company’s image. Now, as I’ve said that, I bet you’re wondering, “How? Who would actually know whether we are recycling or not?” Well, think about it, because by actively showing that you and your company believe in helping the environment, your company will instantly emit a positive image in Australia’s public relations world – helping you to inwardly attract new employees and customers. After all, if you put yourself in your customers and clients shoes, who would not only invest your time and money in, but who would you also be proud to associate yourselves with – a business who detriments or ignores the environment, or one that supports it?

However, it may also help to increase employee moral within your firm, as employees are likely to take pride in working for a company that strives in undertaking a recycling scheme within the workplace.

Furthermore, I’m sure we’ve all seen the adverts on the television that claim to give you money for recycling your mobile phone – well, they are true to their word, because they really do work. And, there’s a whole range of companies in Australia who’ll give you money all in exchange for a variety of your un-used and unnecessary office items. Not sure what to do with that pile of broken phones stuffed away in the stationary cupboard? Or, have a whole hoard of cardboard that’s taking up space in the storeroom? Well, don’t just throw them in the rubbish tip, because by recycling them, you’ll not only be able to do something for positive for the environment, but you’ll also be able to do something positive for the company’s bank balance!

By also recycling unwanted office items, you’ll also be able to save some much-needed space and get rid of clutter, which will not only help to create a much more open and spacious working environment, but will also help with the health and safety aspects for your employees.
