A rider in Australia is spoilt for choices of roads to cruise down. From neverending highways and coastline tracks to roads that cut through mountains and valleys or go deep into the outback, Australia has a number of roads worth exploring. Add to that, the beautiful weather of Australia almost invites you to ride a motorbike. Excepting the times when it rains and the winters in the south, there is no valid climatic excuse to not take a motorcycle out on the roads.
Riding a motorcycle used to be thought of as a predominantly masculine hobby but those days are long gone. Women have long since moved from the pillion seat to the rider’s seat. The only time you can differentiate between a male rider and a female rider is when they take their helmets off and she shakes her hair loose.
If riding alone isn’t something you enjoy there are a number of motorbike clubs that you could ride along with. Whether you enjoy taking your bike out for a spin alone or not, one of the biggest pros of joining a motorbike club is the sense of camaraderie and friendship associated with it. For a beginner, it can provide much needed support system; for others it’s where you make friends that last a lifetime.
Another great reason for a woman to rev up her bike is the sense of freedom it gives. When you’re on a bike, there are no barriers between you and your dreams. Even while riding on city roads, manoeuvring between cars gives you the freedom to go ahead while everyone else waits in traffic. This is and always will be the biggest advantage of riding a motorbike over driving a car.
Riding a bike as powerful as a motorcycle also builds a woman’s confidence and gives her the inner strength to deal with life’s myriad other troubles. Even a short ride can prove to be a stress buster and give you the peace of mind to deal with anything that may be on your mind. If you were looking for a health benefit to riding a bike, you just found it.
But riding a bike is no child’s play. Before a woman kicks off on her own she must learn how to ride, learn the traffic rules and most importantly, know her bike inside out. The perks of independence come with its responsibilities, the biggest one being able to diagnose the bike’s every sputtering cough and jerk. Take riding as an opportunity to shop and equip yourself with a good pair of gloves and a motorcycle jacket, but before all of that, get yourself a sturdy helmet. A stylish bike needs a chic rider.
Riding a bike, some women have said, gives the same feeling of exhilaration that conquering a mountain peak does without half the effort and time that goes into mountain climbing. All you need to get started is a sense of adventure. So what are you waiting for?
