Australian Women Online is proud to support Dream Week: 7 Days of Hope for people living with cancer, 8 – 14 September 2013. There are lots of ways you can get involved including: Go Naked Day at Priceline; $7 for 7 Days of Hope; Kiss & Make-up at Myer and David Jones; and Dream On at Westfield.
Dream Week is a national campaign to raise awareness and much-needed funds for the Cancer Patients Foundation’s Look Good…Feel Better program, which helps to improve the well-being and self-esteem of women, men and teens undergoing treatment for cancer. Look Good…Feel Better (LGFB) does this by providing free information and workshops for cancer patients to help manage the appearance-related side-effects caused by current cancer treatments.
Workshops are available at more than 180 venues around Australia. The workshops are conducted by trained volunteers from the cosmetic, hairdressing and beauty industries, who share their tips and techniques for minimising side-effects such as skin changes and hair loss. Each participant also receives a complimentary Confidence Kit and instruction guide, donated by the cosmetic industry.
The Look Good…Feel Better program is available in 26 countries and was brought to Australia in 1990 as a cosmetic industry community initiative. The program is administered by the Cancer Patients Foundation, a registered charity, and all donations over $2 are tax deductible.
Get Involved in Dream Week 2013
$7 FOR 7 DAYS OF HOPE. This social fundraising campaign is a first for Dream Week. LGFB is asking supporters to rally behind this campaign in a bid to fund the charity’s newest service – Home-Delivered Confidence Kits, which aim to help women, men and teens who are unable to attend a workshop to reap the benefits of the program. Donors can make the $7 pledge via LGFB’s Facebook page or by visiting www.mycause.com.au
FIGHT CANCER. KISS & MAKE UP. Supporters who purchase a lipstick from Myer or David Jones during Dream Week can guarantee that $1 from every sale, regardless of brand, will go directly to LGFB. LGFB is asking supporters to show their support by posting a “selfie” to Instagram and tagging @LGFBAustralia #dreamweek13
GO NAKED. As one of LGFB’s official partners, the Priceline Sisterhood is asking women to “Go Naked” for LGFB and not wear make-up on the morning of Thursday 12 September. Instead, women are invited to pop into any Priceline store for a quick makeover in exchange for a gold-coin donation. The campaign will be supported by more than 360 stores nationally with all donations going directly to LGFB.
DREAM ON. There will be one outpost set up for merchandise sales in Westfield Sydney City. Merchandise includes beautifully designed carry bags, coin purses, makeup bags, bracelets, pins and umbrellas – all inspired by the floral Dream Week theme. Information outposts will be set up in Westfield Bondi Junction and Chadstone in Melbourne to allow members of the public to learn more about the program. Supporters can also pick up a Dream Week Tree of Dreams pin for $5 at Terry White pharmacies nationwide.
DREAM WEEK BANNERS ON YOUR WEBSITE. During Dream Week Australian Women Online will be running Dream Week banners in place of paid advertisements on our website and we are asking other websites to do the same. By foregoing some of our ad revenue for one week (8-14 Sept) we will be helping to spread a message of hope for women, men and teens undergoing treatment for cancer. If you would like to join us simply click here to download the Dream Week banners to place on your website and link these to the Look Good…Feel Better program website: http://lgfb.org.au
