Personal Records
Medical practitioners use records and personal histories to keep updated, and if you don’t bring records to a new place or maintain digital copies, you neglect the health of family members and pets. Don’t forget medical, dental, vet, school, and other records needed for ongoing health and wellness.
Borrowed and Hidden Items
Is that Beatles album yours? Shouldn’t you return those borrowed books before moving day? Survey your items and return borrowed possessions to rightful owners. Moreover, remember hidden items, such as spare keys hidden on home grounds. If you’re a renter, return keys to the communal gym, laundry facility, or recreation rooms.
New Identity
You’re not changing your name or profession, but technically, those who move are changing their identities. Contact banks, schools, credit vendors, and proper authorities regarding your new address. This is especially important regarding creditors. Missed or lost mail can result in late fees or collections calls.
Final Cleaning
Moving day is filled with responsibilities and sudden needs but making a final clean impression is important. Vacuum and shampoo rugs, scrub toilets and tubs, and spray kitchen tabletops and counters. A final clean helps real estate agents sell your home. Contrarily, a clean environment ensures the return of renter security deposits.
Labelled Boxes
Finding cheap boxes is one hurdle of moving; finding the time to pack is another accomplishment. Yet, many forget to label boxes, making it difficult to unpack and arrange. If you don’t like using colourful Sharpies, buy a label maker, which prints legible and large letters for accuracy and convenience. A small detail creates huge inconveniences when communicating with moving services whether goods are crossing the interstate or just moving home; make it easy for you and them.
Careful Packing
It takes a minute to pack dishes in a box. However, if you want to unpack the box to find unharmed dishware, you’ll need to devote more time to packing with care. Use the proper accompanying materials when packing dishes and fragile items. Use bubble wrap, tissue paper, and paper towels to cushion spaces between items and containers. It requires added time, so allocate more minutes toward handling and packing with care.
Lost Items
The moving van is coming in minutes and you’ve spent the last hour ripping through already packed boxes trying to find the vendor agreement. Those who lose focus, lose and accidently pack needed items. Be sure to devote space for integral papers, like your agreements, and needed items, like your house keys. Things quickly get disorganised. Compensate for the disorder with better organisation.
Poor Planning
You’ve rented a huge van, devoted hours toward filling it with all the boxes, and look in horror at the fine leather couch and expensive television that must cram in a limited space. Should you unpack the entire van or take a chance in damaging your expensive items? Mistakenly, some choose the latter and damage or ruin special and expensive items. Plan fitting all your goods without neglecting any items, especially the expensive ones.
Expensive Travel
Making a successful move is just one goal to accomplish. You want to save time and money without losing efficiency. Some reserve Friday or weekend for moving day, yet suffer higher rates, longer reservation waits, and must fight weekend traffic for it. It costs more time and money. Consider taking a vacation day and move during the workweek. It may cost a vacation day, but you’ll benefit in saving time, energy, and money.
Moving poses enough challenges. People sometimes forget crucial things and make the experience more challenging. Remember to contact creditors and vendors, label boxes, return borrowed items, etc.
